Memory Box week and new DT member

Hi,
New week, new theme and .... new DT member..
Let's start with our new addition to the team. Those of you who have been following us will remember her as the author of this blog for a while.
Those of you (lucky ones) who go to the shop, will definitely know her or even have attended her classes or seen her demos...
I am talking about .... Jane Collman.

Hi,
Have always crafted from very early age, taught to knit and sew by mum (yes I can make curtains and blinds and cushions, bed spreads etc!!!!!!!).  Used to make teddy bears too which sold at various shops around the country!!!
Have been making cards for around 16 years and was shown how to stamp and heat emboss at The Barn.  I think because of that stamping will always be my favourite, it is how we decorate them that has changed over the years.  Obviously I am very into my Copics (I am a certified Copic Instructor) but also like die-cutting too which I try to use in most of my projects.
I also like decorating papermache and wooden objects with papers and paints.
Married for a long time, two kids, three dogs and a koi pond!!

I am really happy to have Jane on the team as she is very talented and so funny too. Her style is very different from the other DT members'.
When asked "how do you describe your style?", she struggled to answer and said "what do you think?"
Helpful, eh? lol.
I would say, not quite Clean and simple... but "classic"?
Let's see what you think with her first post today...

So this week is Memory die week but we also wanted to make it a CARD week. Simple cards for you to make, different styles... oh and there will be one sample which is not a card, but that will be on Saturday ;)
We have received the latest addition to the range lately and what can I say? ....
They are all luuuuurvely. Here are some of the new ones...

And Jane's card...

To use the lovely Memory Box and Poppystamps dies that will be shown this week, you will need a die cutting machine, I have used my Cuttlebug but you could use a Grand Calibur or Sizzix etc but whichever you use, please refer to the instructions with your machine for cutting these thin dies.

I have also added to my usual plates, the Cheery Lynn Designs Cuttlehug Large Metal Adaptor Plate, this is designed to to cut finer details and larger images without a large number of shims.

Place your dies on to your plates with the card you want to cut and run through the machine.

You will notice when you take them out that sometimes they stay in the cutter or the card, use a pokey tool or similar and carefully help them out. Usually the more intricate the design, the more likely it is to stay attached to the cutter or card!! Don't worry it just needs a little patience!!

I cut my flowers and card in white, the flowers were then layered together. I used Coredinations to cut a contrasting square and the Valencia Border

When all the pieces are cut out, glue the flowers together and arrange on card.

I like magnetic sheets to keep these lovely dies tidy.

Here's what Jane used on her sample
