PaperArtsy week: Vintage tag

Hi,
You might have seen the MN 22 as a background stamp, but Isa'sArt will show you today how to use it to make lovely little number tags.
She has also used the Crunchy paper to make the hearts and add dimension to her tag.

Ink up your stamps with the Distress Marker, and press your mini tag on the number. It's easier this way to centre your number as the tag is smaller than the stamp.
There is no 0 on this stamp, but Isa would not have made a simple tag for a big "big-whatever-number-0" birthday ;o)

The hearts were cut in Crunchy paper, distressed with a flame for the burnt look (but you can get away with this by tearing the edges and adding ink... safer this way as this is very inflammable) and stitched in the middle

I painted the reverse of a mini canvas and some Tando bunting with Eco Green Crafts acrylics. The Crackly tissue paper was stamped with a crackle stamp then scrunched up into a tiny ball. I glued this onto the frame & bunting making sure there were no air bubbles. A light brush with some perfect medium and silver embossing followed. The bottles have been stamped & embossed in silver. I found the quote and poem (in the bottle) on the internet.

I used a colouring technique I learned from Leandra Franich at the Extravaganza:
I stamped on a piece of PaperArtsy Crackly paper using MN65 and Jet Black Archival ink. I painted the stamped image on the back of the paper using different colours of Fresco Finish Paints. When dry (this is optional) I covered the painted area (still on the back) with Fresco Finish Paint Snowflake, to make the colours more vivid.

I painted the Tando chipboard houses with Fresco Finish paint South Pacific, London Bus and Butternut.
I covered the back of the house with a piece of book page . I assembled the houses and I glue to the front and sides the stamped images. I even added a little detail made with clay, stamped with MN65 stamp, coloured with Dreamweaver F/X mica powder, trimmed and dried with the heat tool.

For the little wooden reel: I painted it with Fresco Finish Paints, then I stamped on a piece of Crackly paper the little rule from HotPick 1006 plate, I coloured it on the back and I glued it to the reel; I glued to the top of it a detail from the MN65 stamped image.

We will also have an new ART JOURNAL CHALLENGE at the end of this week, and the PaperArtsy stamps are perfect for Art Journaling... so now is your chance to "stock up"

Speaking of Art Journaling, this is how we are starting this week. Michelle is here with us and made a fantastic AJ page for you...

*************

To make the page I created the background by brushing small patches of TH Distess Inks to cover two adjoining pages then brushed Vintage photo through the stencil at the bottom of the pages.

I found a silhouette picture on the internet and printed it the size I wanted and used this as a pattern for cutting the silhouette out of copy paper.
I positioned the head on the left hand page and marked where the stencil pattern stopped and scribbled a line across the head and the pages in black permanent pen.

I then stencilled Black Soot ink through the stencil after masking below the scribbled line. I then masked above the line and brushed three colours of ink onto the rest of the head. This was then stuck in place on the page.

I then stamped the PaperArtsy stamp Mind matters and completed the page by using the words of the stamp to inspire my journalling which was written with a white sakura pen.

A really simple page which I thoroughly enjoyed making!

To create the journal page Michelle used

Simply Saturday and clocks

Hi,
We like our Saturdays to be clean and simple.. and stylish... and special.
The "special" this week, is that we are still talking about clock here, but not an altered Tando Clock. But we thought that if you were going to offer an altered clock, you might want to have a card to match.
Gay did just that, and beautifully too (I LOVE this card)

Hope you enjoyed our clock week and that you are inspired to give it a go. Don't forget to show us if you do ;)

Here's how Gay made it
I simply brought together the elements, embossed the clock, painted it, cut it out and sat playing for ages to get the right combination of images. Shading with vintage photo behind to pop out the clock and layering the young woman on gold mirri to lift her from the dark design.

Tando Clocks week with Gio

Hi,
Remember Tando's Printer's tray style clock Neil made and we featured yesterday. Well who would believe this is the same clock Gio altered? Talk about a huge different in style and look although they used the same clock to start with.
Can't wait to read you comments
(and yes, as one of you mentioned, I did put the comment moderation back on. I know it's sometimes annoying and I'm very sorry.
But the amount of "anonymous" emails we were receiving daily was really getting out of control. To give you an example, during my holiday, I got over 470! and they don't go in the spam folder, we have to sort them out)

I painted the outer part of the Tando's Printers tray style clock with Fresco Finish South Pacific paint. Once dry, I covered with
Viva Croco Paint: transparent. When that was dry, I applied some Americana Quinacridone gold to give a worn look.
I glued behind the clock a metallic net , found at the hardware store.

I prepared the embellishments: I cut some pieces of zip and I rolled them with a help of PVA glue.
I painted the Tando chipboard letters with black acrylic paint, to form the word Time;I painted the Tando cogs chipboards using Fresco Finish Paint Finish South Pacific and adding some texture with DecoArt Texture Sand; I even add to the clock some pieces of black veil.
The clock: I painted a piece of white crumpled cardstock using Americana Quinacridone gold and Warm White. I stamped che clock face using Jet Black Archival ink and CI-353

Tando Clocks week: Karen

Hi,
How about making a clock as a heirloom for the Christmas holidays, that you would take out year after year and / or give away.
Not sure if she will give it away, but Karen sure made a gorgeous clock in non traditional colours (as in not green and read).
Here's how Karen made her clock.

Splodge the lake & white acrylics onto the tando clock bases, except the centre where the clock face will go - keep this smooth. Stamp & emboss the clock face with silver and then add some silver Inca Gold to the rest. Add Transparent Viva Croco to all but the clock face.

For the background apply watered down sand & lake acrylic, blending as you go. Stamp & white emboss some snowflakes.

Watercolour the Crafty Individual stamps, clear emboss then cut out images. As you stick the background behind the 'windows' tuck the images in. Glue all the chipboard pieces together.

Hold them together with clips until dry. Paint the Tando Snowflake flourish & the Tando Sledge as shown and add transparent Viva Croco to the snowflakes & the sledge. Attach matching fibres around the edges.
